A. Gold-Tone / Rose-Tone / Black-Rhodium PLATED JEWELRY
-
Put it on last, take it off first
Finish your beauty routine (lotion, perfume, hairspray) before wearing the piece; remove it before undressing to avoid accidental pulls. -
Keep it dry
Remove before hand-washing, showering, swimming, sauna, hot-spring, SPA, gym or any activity that causes perspiration. Salt water, chlorine and sweat accelerate plating loss. -
Avoid chemicals & abrasives
No dish-washing, cleaning agents, sanitisers, alcohol wipes, sulfur soap, shampoo, hair dye, sunscreen, perfume or citrus juices. These will erode the plating or cause dark spots. -
Store in airtight darkness
After each wear, wipe gently with the provided soft cotton cloth to remove skin oils, then place in the sealed poly-bag or anti-tarnish pouch we supplied. Add a piece of plain chalk or silica gel to absorb moisture. Keep the box closed and away from direct sunlight or heat vents. -
Polish correctly
Never use liquid “dip” cleaners, ultrasonic machines or silver-polish creams—they will strip the gold layer. If the surface looks dull, buff lightly with a clean microfiber or jewellery-polishing cloth only. -
Wear rotation
Plating is a surface finish; friction will slowly wear it away. Rotate pieces so each one rests a few days between wears. -
Skin chemistry matters
Individual pH, medication, diet and even hormonal changes can darken jewellery quickly. If you know you are acidic, seal the piece with a colourless jewellery sealing lacquer (e.g. Jewellery Shield) before first wear.
B. STERLING-SILVER / FINE-SILVER JEWELRY
(925 silver, 999 silver or silver-plated over copper)
-
Daily wear keeps it bright
The natural oils on your skin help prevent tarnish; frequent wear is the easiest maintenance. -
Still, keep it away from
Chlorine bleach, hot tubs, pools, sulfur-rich foods (eggs, onions, mustard), rubber bands, wool, latex, oak and newspaper—all contain sulfur that turns silver black. -
Rinse after salt or chlorine
If the piece accidentally contacts salt water or pool water, rinse immediately in lukewarm tap water, pat dry and let air-dry completely before storing. -
Store anti-tarnish
Place the item in the supplied zip-lock with an anti-tarnish strip (or a piece of white chalk). Keep each piece separate so chains do not tangle and scratch. Store in a cool, dark drawer—never in the bathroom. -
Polish the right way
When you see pale yellow tarnish, wash in mild dish-soap solution, rinse, dry, then polish with a special silver-polishing cloth (we include one). For heavy black tarnish, use a reputable silver cream or a brief dip formulated for silver; rinse thoroughly and dry. Do NOT use dips on plated silver—it will remove the plating. -
Oxidised / blackened details
Some designs are intentionally darkened to highlight texture. Polish only the raised areas; over-polishing will erase the pattern. -
Professional check-ups
Bring stone-set pieces to a jeweller once a year to ensure prongs are tight; silver is soft and claws can loosen.
General Reminders for ALL Jewellery
-
Never sleep, exercise or lift heavy objects while wearing delicate chains; stress can cause kinks or stone loss.
-
Keep necklaces clasped to prevent knots; store bracelets flat.
-
Keep away from small children and pets.
-
If irritation, redness or rash occurs, discontinue wear and consult a dermatologist.
Clothing Care Guide
At Aura Tide Collective, our garments are crafted from high-performance materials chosen for comfort, durability, and elegance — from technical sports fabrics to natural blends.
Proper care helps your pieces look and perform their best over time.
1. General Care
-
Always check the label before washing if there is.
-
Wash inside out to protect prints, finishes, and delicate details.
-
Use a gentle cycle with cold or lukewarm water (≤30 °C / 86 °F).
-
Avoid fabric softeners — they can break down technical fibers and reduce breathability.
-
Do not bleach, dry clean, or tumble dry on high heat unless the label explicitly allows it.
2. Fabric-Specific Notes
-
Polyester / Spandex / Nylon blends:
Machine-wash cold, mild detergent only. Avoid heat to preserve elasticity. -
Cotton & Cotton blends:
Wash in cold or warm water; air-dry or tumble dry low to prevent shrinkage. -
Modal / Viscose / Rayon:
Hand-wash or use delicate cycle in cold water; reshape while damp and lay flat. -
Wool & Merino blends:
Use a wool-specific detergent and cool water; avoid wringing or twisting. -
Mesh or Lace inserts:
Place in a laundry bag before washing to avoid snags.
3. Drying & Ironing
-
Air-dry flat or hang in shade — avoid direct sunlight to prevent color fading.
-
Do not wring or twist after washing.
-
Iron on low temperature only if necessary; avoid ironing logos, elastic bands, or reflective details.
4. Storage
-
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
-
Fold knit or elastic garments rather than hanging to avoid stretching.
