— Aura Tide Equipment Science
Part 01 — Installation (3 Minutes)

The STA 4.0 offers two attachment methods. Choose based on your racket and how often you switch between rackets:

Alternative

Way 2: 3M Adhesive Tape

Clean the racket handle surface, peel the 3M tape backing, and press the sensor firmly onto the handle. Hold for 30 seconds. Allow 24 hours for full adhesion before heavy use.

✓ Best for: Players with a dedicated training racket
⚠ Note: Removal may leave adhesive residue. Not recommended for premium racket finishes
1Step

Power On

Short press the power button for 1 second. The LED indicator will flash green 3 times to confirm the sensor is on. If no response, charge the sensor for 30 minutes first.

Tip: The sensor auto-sleeps after 10 minutes of inactivity and wakes automatically when it detects your next shot.
2Step

Download the Smart Tennis App

Search "Smart Tennis" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The app is free. Create an account — your data is stored to your personal profile and tracked chronologically.

Tip: Enable Bluetooth on your phone before opening the app. The sensor connects automatically once detected.
3Step

Pair the Sensor

Open the Smart Tennis app → tap the sensor icon → select your device from the list → tap "Connect". The LED will flash in 4-second intervals when connected successfully.

Tip: If the sensor doesn't appear, turn Bluetooth off and on again, then restart the app.
4Step

Choose Your Mode

Memory Mode (default): Sensor records all data internally. Sync to the app after your session by connecting via Bluetooth and pulling down to refresh. Best for uninterrupted play.

Real-Time Mode: Data streams live to your phone during play. Requires Bluetooth connection throughout. Best for focused training sessions with immediate feedback.

LED Status Indicator Guide

Your sensor communicates its status through LED patterns. Here's what each pattern means:

LED Pattern Status What to Do
Flashes 3x on press Powering on — normal Nothing — sensor is starting up
On when long-pressed, off after 2s Powering off — normal Nothing — sensor is shutting down
Flashes every 4 seconds Unconnected — Memory Mode active Recording data internally. Sync after session.
Flashes every 4s (2x intervals) Connected — Real-Time Mode active Data streaming live to your phone
Stays on continuously Firmware upgrading Do not power off. Wait for completion.
Quick flash every 4 seconds Low battery Charge soon — data may not save if battery dies mid-session
Breathing (slow pulse) Charging Normal — leave connected until full
Stays on solid Fully charged Ready to use
Part 02 — How to Read Your Swing Data

This is where most players get lost — and where the real value of your analyzer lives. Here's what each metric actually means, what a good score looks like, and what to do if yours needs improvement:

Swing Speed (Racket Head Speed)

How fast your racket head is moving at the moment of contact. The primary driver of ball speed and power. Measured in mph or km/h.

✓ Good: 60–75 mph (recreational) / 75–90+ mph (competitive)
↑ Improve: Focus on hip rotation initiation — power comes from the kinetic chain, not the arm
🎯

Sweet Spot Contact Rate

The percentage of shots where you make contact in the optimal zone of the racket face. The single most reliable predictor of shot consistency and quality.

✓ Good: 70%+ (recreational) / 85%+ (competitive)
↑ Improve: Slow down your swing and focus on watching the ball all the way to contact
🔄

Swing Arc / Path

The 3D trajectory your racket travels through the hitting zone. Reveals whether your swing is flat, looping upward (topspin), or cutting downward (slice).

✓ Good: Consistent arc matching your intended shot type
↑ Improve: Compare your arc to the session average — high variance means inconsistent mechanics
📊

Swing Speed Variance

How much your swing speed varies across a session. Low variance = high consistency. High variance = your mechanics are changing shot to shot, often due to fatigue or tension.

✓ Good: Less than 8% variance across 20+ shots
↑ Improve: Track variance at the start vs. end of session — rising variance signals fatigue
🎾

Shot Count by Type

Total shots broken down by forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. Reveals your shot distribution — and whether your practice matches your match patterns.

✓ Good: Shot distribution reflects your game style and training goals
↑ Improve: If you hit 80% forehands in practice but lose on backhand in matches, rebalance your drills
📈

Session Trend (Week over Week)

Your most important long-term metric. Compares your average swing speed and sweet spot rate across multiple sessions. This is where real improvement becomes visible.

✓ Good: Upward trend in sweet spot rate + stable or increasing swing speed
↑ Improve: If trend is flat after 4 weeks, change one variable — drill type, ball pressure, or grip
Benchmark: How Do You Compare?

Use this table to contextualize your data against typical player profiles at each level:

Player Level Avg Swing Speed Sweet Spot Rate Speed Variance Sessions to See Improvement
Beginner (0–2 yrs) 45–60 mph 40–60% High (15%+) 4–6 weeks
Recreational (2–5 yrs) 60–75 mph 60–75% Medium (10–15%) 3–4 weeks
Club Competitive (5–10 yrs) 75–85 mph 75–85% Low (8–10%) 2–3 weeks
Advanced / Tournament 85–95+ mph 85–92% Very Low (<8%) 1–2 weeks
WTA / ATP Pro 95–120+ mph 90–95%+ <5% Continuous
Your First 4-Week Data Action Plan

Don't just collect data — act on it. Here's a structured 4-week plan to get maximum value from your STA 4.0 in your first month:

Week 1

Establish Your Baseline

  • Record 3 sessions without changing anything
  • Note your average swing speed
  • Note your sweet spot rate
  • Note your speed variance
  • This is your starting benchmark
Week 2

Identify Your #1 Gap

  • Compare your data to the benchmark table
  • Pick ONE metric to focus on
  • Sweet spot rate <65%? Focus on contact
  • Variance >15%? Focus on consistency
  • Speed below benchmark? Focus on rotation
Week 3–4

Drill, Measure, Repeat

  • Run targeted drills for your #1 gap
  • Record data every session
  • Compare Week 3–4 to Week 1 baseline
  • Look for 5–10% improvement in target metric
  • Then pick your next gap to close
Firmware Updates & Maintenance
🔄Update

How to Update Firmware

In the Smart Tennis app, go to Settings → Firmware Update. Ensure battery is above 60% before starting. The LED will stay on solid during the update — do not power off. If an update fails, use Settings → Restore to Factory Settings to reset, then retry.

Important: Sync your session data to the app before a factory reset — unsynchronized data will be lost.
🔋Battery

Battery & Storage

Charge via the included USB cable. The LED breathes slowly while charging and stays solid green when full. For long-term storage, charge to 50–60% before storing. Avoid leaving the sensor fully discharged for extended periods.

Tip: If the sensor is idle for 10+ minutes, it auto-powers off to preserve battery. It wakes automatically on your next shot.
